Sound familiar?
It's rarely just about the injury
When I chat to people about their training, the same things come up pretty much every time. The back that tightens up after a day at the desk. The knee that's been a bit dodgy since your 30s. The shoulder that doesn't love anything overhead anymore. And somewhere underneath it, a quiet worry that this is just what getting older feels like.
On their own none of those sound like a big deal. But when you dig a little deeper, it's the run you stopped doing because your knee would swell up for two days after. The surf you keep saying you'll get back to. The game of backyard cricket where you bowl a couple of overs and then find a reason to sit down. Picking up your kid, or your grandkid, and feeling your back twinge, and making a mental note not to do that again.
And it adds up. You start saying "maybe next time", and after a while people stop asking. The kids stop expecting you to join in. The weekend hike gets planned without you because everyone knows your knee won't like it. Nobody says anything, but you notice.
That's the part people tell me about quietly. Frustration with a body that used to just do what you asked. Feeling stuck, because you've tried to get back into it a few times and something keeps flaring up. And for a lot of people, a sense that their best physical years might already be behind them. I hear it from people in their 30s right through to their 60s.
I don't think those years are behind you.
For most of the people I work with, age isn't really the problem. Their body just hasn't been trained to handle the things they want to do. That's fixable, and I've seen enough people prove it over the years to be pretty confident about that.
This is for you if
- You've got an injury or niggle that's stopping you doing things you enjoy
- You've tried to get back into training and something keeps flaring up
- You want to keep up with your kids, your partner and your mates
- You want to actually get stronger, not just "stay active"
- You've got around 3 hours a week to give this
- You want to be doing the fun stuff for decades, not just the next 6 weeks
What you get
Built to get you back to the things you love
That means getting stronger around the areas that keep flaring up instead of avoiding them, and fitting it into a week that already has work and family in it.
3 core sessions a week
Around 45 minutes each. Lower body, upper body, full body.
Gym or home versions
Every session. Home just needs a couple of pairs of dumbbells and a band.
Mobility in EVERY session
8 to 10 minutes for hips, spine and shoulders. That's where pain free happens.
1 to 2 optional sessions
Mobility and core flow, plus conditioning. 20 to 30 minutes each.
Monthly live Q&A
Recorded. Can't make it? Send your question in and I'll answer it on the call.
Community + app
Group chat, plus sessions, weights and exercise videos in TrainHeroic.
How it works
Small steps, every week
- 1
Start Here week.
A short intake form, a welcome video from me, and a few simple baseline tests. Nothing heroic, it's just so you can see how far you come.
- 2
Monthly blocks.
Learn it, build, push, then back off. Goblet squats at 3x8 with 16kg in week one might be 3x10 by week two and 20kg by week three.
- 3
Three-month cycle.
Foundation, then Strength, then Capacity. Then we go round again with new exercises so it never gets stale.
Join any time: your Start Here week begins the Monday after you sign up, and your first block kicks off the Monday after that.

Your coach
Hi, I'm Matt
I've been coaching for over 15 years, and Fusion has been running since 2015, first in person here on the Sunshine Coast and now online.
I studied sport and exercise science, I'm also a qualified counsellor, and I love getting into the weeds with training. Sets, reps, which exercise, why does this hurt when I do that. Those are the questions I get every week and they're the ones I enjoy most.
I still train myself, lifting and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, so I know what it's like to manage a body that's picked up a few knocks along the way.
I'm also a dad, and between family, work and running a business, I know how quickly training slides down the list. Some weeks the plan goes out the window because someone's sick, the kids have something on, or work just blows up. That's a big part of why every session is around 45 minutes, why there's a home version of everything, and why missing a week doesn't mean starting again.
Real people, real results
Don't just take my word for it
Allowed me to return to training with more range of motion and strength in my knee then before surgery.

I can actually cross my legs and feel comfortable … I've never really been able to do that.

A mentor who is genuinely invested in your fitness and long-term goals.

Thanks for changing how I feel about fitness.

Questions
Good to know
I've got a dodgy back, knee or shoulder. Can I still do this?
Most likely, yes. I've worked with hundreds of people dealing with ongoing issues over the years, so this is definitely doable. If you've got something ongoing, Blueprint is probably your best bet, because I'll build a plan around your specific niggle. That said, every workout is scalable, and whichever option you choose I'll work with you to get the right fit. If it's something new, sharp or undiagnosed, get it checked by your physio or GP first.
I'm in my 50s or 60s. Is this going to be too much?
You start where you are. The baselines in Start Here week show us your starting point, and you pick weights that feel challenging but doable.
Do I need a gym?
No. Every core session has a gym version and a home version. A couple of pairs of dumbbells and a band will cover it.
When can I start?
Any Monday. Sign up and your Start Here week begins the following Monday, then your first block kicks off the week after.
What if I miss a week?
Pick up where you left off. It's an ongoing program, not a 6-week challenge you can fail.
Can I switch between Momentum and Blueprint?
Yes, any time. Some start on Blueprint for a personalised foundation, then move to Momentum. Others step up to Blueprint ahead of an event or trip.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Monthly plans have a 12-week minimum (one full cycle), then cancel any time with 30 days' notice. Annual plans can be cancelled any time before renewal, with no refund for the remaining months.
Start saying yes again
If you've been saying "maybe next time" to the things you enjoy for a while now, this is a pretty good time to start saying yes again.
You can start any Monday. Sign up this week and your Start Here week begins next Monday.
